Pune-based Jagruti Rehabilitation Centre has raised ₹28 crore in a Series A funding round led by Delhi-based venture capital fund Alkemi Growth Capital. The investment marks the organisation’s first institutional funding round and is expected to support its expansion across India.

Founded in Pune in 2008 by psychiatrist Dr Amar Shinde and Vijaya Shinde, Jagruti provides residential mental healthcare, addiction treatment and dementia care. Starting with a 10-bed centre, the organisation has expanded to more than 19 centres across nine cities, including Pune, Mumbai, Delhi NCR, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru and Chennai.

Jagruti currently operates more than 1,600 beds and has a team of over 40 doctors. According to the organisation, it has supported more than 82,000 individuals through its mental health, addiction and neurological care programmes. Hemant Shinde joined the organisation as co-founder and CEO in 2019, contributing to its development into a professionally managed healthcare network.

The newly raised funds will be used to enter additional geographical markets, expand clinical teams and staffing capacity, develop specialised care programmes, and strengthen partnerships with insurance providers and corporate organisations. Jagruti plans to expand its network to more than 40 centres and 4,000 beds across Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities over the next three to four years.

The investment also marks Alkemi Growth Capital’s first investment in the mental health and rehabilitation segment of healthcare delivery. Its existing healthcare portfolio includes companies operating in diagnostics, medical devices, emergency medical response, cancer diagnostics, health technology, and pharmaceutical manufacturing.
