The Ministry of AYUSH is promoting the message of ‘Yoga for Unity’ on National Unity Day (Rashtriya Ekta Diwas) 2026, commemorating the 151st birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The initiative highlights the role of Yoga in promoting national integration, social harmony, physical and mental well-being, and collective responsibility towards health.
The campaign is integrated with the Ministry's Yoga 365 initiative, which encourages citizens to make Yoga a regular part of their daily lives rather than limiting its practice to specific occasions. Through this initiative, the Ministry aims to promote preventive healthcare, healthy living and wider community participation throughout the year.
Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for AYUSH and Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Prataprao Jadhav, highlighted the importance of Yoga in bringing people together across differences of age, region and background. He emphasised that collective participation in Yoga can help strengthen social bonds while contributing to physical and mental well-being.
Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary, Ministry of AYUSH, stated that Yoga offers an accessible approach to improving individual and community health. He highlighted that Yoga 365 aims to encourage year-round practice and make preventive healthcare part of everyday life.
As part of the campaign, Yoga and Naturopathy institutions under the Ministry of AYUSH are being encouraged to organise activities, collective Yoga sessions and awareness programmes to increase public participation. These activities aim to connect the message of national unity with healthy living, community engagement and preventive healthcare.
Through ‘Yoga for Unity’, the Ministry seeks to extend public engagement with Yoga beyond commemorative events and encourage its adoption as a sustainable daily practice that supports individual well-being and strengthens community relationships.
