AIG Hospitals, Hyderabad, and Boston Scientific India have signed a three-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a Centre of Excellence (CoE) for minimally invasive gastrointestinal (GI) therapies. Announced on October 26, 2026, the initiative aims to strengthen advanced endoscopy skills among doctors across India and expand access to specialised GI procedures beyond major metropolitan centres.

Under the collaboration, AIG Hospitals will conduct structured training programmes annually in four areas: Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), cholangioscopy, endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) and endoluminal surgeries. The programmes will combine classroom-based learning with hands-on training, skill laboratories, live case observation and continued mentorship to help participants develop procedural skills and clinical decision-making capabilities.

The Centre will also offer training opportunities for endoscopy technicians and nursing professionals, recognising the importance of multidisciplinary teams in delivering advanced therapeutic endoscopy. Digital learning, clinical observerships and ongoing mentorship will complement practical training, helping healthcare professionals apply their skills in their respective clinical settings.

Dr. D. Nageshwar Reddy, Chairman and Chief of Gastroenterology at AIG Hospitals, highlighted the importance of extending advanced procedural training to doctors in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities. Boston Scientific representatives also emphasised the role of clinical education and medical technology in supporting evidence-based practice and improving access to minimally invasive treatment options.

The partnership builds on existing training collaboration between the two organisations. It will follow an annual training calendar and periodic reviews to assess progress and identify opportunities for further development. Through the initiative, AIG Hospitals and Boston Scientific aim to strengthen India's therapeutic endoscopy training ecosystem and help more patients access specialised gastrointestinal care closer to home.
